In order to initiate the fiancé(e) visa process, the petitioner (U.S. citizen) must file a petition on behalf of the beneficiary (foreign fiancé(e)) with the USCIS.
The following is a sample list of forms and documentation required by the USCIS.
- Original Petition for Alien Fiancé(e) (Form I-129F) with filing fee ($340). Learn more about fiancé(e) visa fees here.
- Original Biographic Information Sheet (Form G-325A) for the fiancé(e).
- Original Biographic Information Sheet (Form G-325A) for the U.S. citizen.
- Proof of petitioner’s U.S. citizenship.
i. Copy of certificate of naturalization OR
ii. Copy of biographic page of U.S. passport OR
iii. Copy of certificate of birth - Two (2) color photographs (dimension of 2”x2”) of the fiancé(e).
- Two (2) color photographs (dimension of 2”x2”) of the U.S. citizen.
- Copy of divorce and/or death certificate(s) of any previous spouse(s) of both the fiancé(e) and U.S. citizen (if applicable).
- Evidence that the fiancé(e) and U.S. citizen have met (in person) in the two (2) years preceding the filing of the petition.
- Fiancé(e)’s statement establishing his or her intent to marry.
- U.S. citizen’s statement establishing his or her intent to marry.
- Evidence of a bona fide relationship between U.S. citizen and fiancé(e). This may consist of photographs of the couple, email exchanges, telephone bills, letters, airline ticket receipts or other documentation.
*All foreign language documents must be accompanied by a certified English translation.
